If you are having issues with the fingerprint reader, try the following steps:
1. Make sure to wait until the fingerprint reader is initialized. There is a slight delay (~1 second) before the reader is ready. The central square LED should flash red briefly, and then the device should emit a blue light when it is fully initialized.
On rare occasions, the fingerprint reader may not initialize properly. When this happens, the central square LED will not flash, and red LEDS will light up briefly along the periphery of the gel pad. Cancel the DL and photograph options, and another fingerprint read.
2. Clean the gel pad of the fingerprint reader. Use a screen cleaning fluid on the pad, and wipe away any excess. If necessary, apply Scotch tape or equivalent onto the gel pad to pick up any debris that may be stuck on the gel pad. Make sure to remove any tape or residue after cleaning.
3. Use a fingertip moistener product before attempting a fingerprint read. In cold weather or dry conditions, a person's fingerprint may become unrecognizable.
4. Re-register the attendant's fingerprint from the Employees menu. Occasionally, registering a person's fingerprint again will solve the issue of being unable to get a proper reading. Make sure to click Finish on the Edit Employee screen once the fingerprint registration is finished.
